Whichford Pottery Junior Apprentice

A unique opportunity to apprentice under Jim and Adam Keeling at Whichford Pottery. You will join our team of skilled craftsmen and women, working alongside our senior apprentices in running a busy hand making workshop. The ‘three pull throwing technique’ which has been passed down through generations of potters will give you an excellent opportunity to pursue the craft of pottery.

Apprentice Key Jobs Include:
- Servicing & dehumidifier Rotation
- Kiln Loading and unloading
- Slipping & glazing
- Keeping the workshop space clean and tidy enabling efficient product flow
- Assisting Senior Throwers where needed
- Learning the ancient ‘three pull throwing technique’

You must be friendly, enthusiastic, flexible and a team player.
Throwing experience not essential. 

Start Date: Flexible — ASAP preferred
Hours: Full Time (Monday to Friday — 8.30am — 5pm)

Whichford Pottery Decorator

An exciting opportunity to join our decorating team who hand-decorate over half of all of our handthrown flowerpots. You will be trained in a variety of methods including: relief mould work, lattice application, hand inscribing technique and hand building.

Decorator Key Jobs Include:

- Adding relief moulds
 — Hand inscribing
 — Fettling and bringing out detail 
 — Learning full catalogue of designs
 — Assisting Lead Decorator in ensuring clear and efficient work flow

You must be friendly, enthusiastic, flexible and a team player. Ceramic experience not essential. 

Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Four days a week (8.30am — 5pm).
These hours could be flexible depending on applicant.
