Based on Nepalese originals, this is one of our most complex pots to make, incorporating hand-pressed and throwing techniques, plus a large amount of hand modelling.
The palanquin and head dress on each elephant has its own unique decoration, made up from various Indian motifs. The introduction of the smaller size has resulted in terracotta herds being seen in The Home Counties!

Meet the Maker
Lynda has worked at the pottery for 22 years. She is our Head of Hand Pressed but also helps within the decorating and stoneware departments. Lynda made 11,000 of the 88,000 poppies that Whichford Pottery created as part of the Remembrance Day installation at the Tower of London.
